Struggling to know your identity? Want to know more about who God says you are?
Read these scriptures. Soak in the truth that you are His beloved and let it impact how you see yourself today.
I am loved. I matter to God.
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.…And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” 1 John 4:10,16
I am not hidden. I am known.
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.” Psalm 139:1-5
I am a child of God. I have understanding.
“We know that we are children of God…we also know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.” 1 John 5:19-20
I am not alone.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
I am uniquely made. I am handcrafted by God.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:13-14
I am a delight to God. He wants me.
“For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT)
I am complete in Him. I am in union with Christ.
“For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you are also complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” Colossians 2:10 (NLT)
I am heard.
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we ask of him.” 1 John 5:18
I am not condemned. I am free from the law of sin and death.
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2
I have purpose as God’s workmanship. I have been created to do good works.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
I am alive with Christ. I have been saved by grace.
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5
I am an overcomer.
“And they overcame him [Satan] because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony…” Revelation 12:11 (ASV)
I am a joint-heir with Christ. I share in His glory.
“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. No if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Romans 8:17
I have already won the victory. God’s spirit in me is greater.
“But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” 1 John 4:4 (NLT)
I am more than a conqueror. I cannot be separated from God’s love.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, no any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37
I have the mind of Christ.
“For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:16 (NLT)
I am God’s possession. I live in His light.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10
I have no lack. God supplies all my needs.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
I have been set free. I have wisdom.
“He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.” Ephesians 1:7-8 (NLT)
I can do all things.
“I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
God always will direct my steps.
